DeShundra Barnes joined the Office of Medical Education on July 20, 2026, as a Project Manager. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University and a Master of Health Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration at the University of Southern Mississippi.

As Project Manager, DeShundra coordinates educational outreach, special events, and projects supporting current and prospective students and faculty. She collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus partners to advance the educational mission of the School of Medicine.

With nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, student services, and health education, DeShundra is passionate about student success, outreach, and creating meaningful opportunities that help students achieve their academic and professional goals.

DeShundra and her son, Corey, live in Byram, where she enjoys good food, family fun, and making memories while proudly serving as his biggest cheerleader at his many educational and sporting events.
